about

As Our Town Becomes a City contains lyrics inspired by my father. The gang-vocals at the end feature some good friends of mine. A Keystone Choir is any substantial grouping of singing hipsters from Pennsylvania. In this recording, The Keystone Choir is Elise Duranko, Chris Duranko, Mike Ziemba, Alex Miller, Alison Bigler, Bob Nichols, Elissa Berman, and Ian Putt. Thanks, guys.

lyrics

It was dark when I woke up. The city lights reflect off the snow in the yard. You can see where the kids left their marks. You treat the world like dirt. Let’s take a trip to the moon ... where we can watch the Earth self-destruct because of you. Doesn’t anybody want to thrive? Doesn’t anybody want to find a place to call home? You can watch your friends grow. Observe the mistakes they make. We’ve got to get out of this town, because the street ... they fill, and the creeks are overflowing, and the hustle and bustle will drive you mad after 30 years of driving in traffic ... as our town becomes a city.
